- Are you presently working with a shopping cart that is very frustrating?
- Do you have a a web site for your business?
A website is often the first impression potential customers will have about your business. You should, at the very least, have a presence on the web so that customers, potential employees, business partners and perhaps investors can quickly and easily find out about your business and the products or services you have to offer.
A professional site is essential if you want to be taken seriously, because it’s actually better to not have a website than to have one that makes your business look bad. Your site speaks volumes about your business. It either says, “We take our business so seriously that we have developed this wonderful site for our customers!” or it screams, “Hey, I got me a website! I let my 10-year-old nephew do it for me.”
Converting visitors into customers is as much our goal as yours. A simple, clean, layout will entice a visitor to spend time navigating your site and convert them to become a customer. Contrary to popular belief, and unless you a recording artist working with a major record label, or an “A” list actor/actress promoting a box office blockbuster, animations created with Flash, background music, and dancing hamsters are not what visitors are looking for.
When you are looking at various sites that offer the same services, or sell the same product(s), what prompts you to make a purchase or make contact with that company? Layout, design, navigation, presentation of product, product information and simplicity are important factors. You literally have only seconds to attract and convert potential customers before they move on to another site. Traffic on your web site is good only when you convert visitors to actual customers.
My experience as a web site developer revolve around two things: Information and eCommerce. I have been working in retail since 1993 and developing eCommerce since 1997. Since 2001, I have been developing eCommerce sites with the very popular Miva Merchant software, and for the past few years, as I have been developing “Informational” or non-eCommerce sites, I have been use WordPress. I started out programming my own CMS (Content Management Systems) programs to manage websites, but as WordPress has evolved, I believe it is the most powerful and user-friendly application available.
I recommend these tools because they give YOU the power to control your own website. Too often, designers and developers harness everything to make themselves indispensable where if you need a simple change or want to add a new page, you have NO CHOICE but to contact your original developer. It’s much more exciting to give clients the ability to keep their website growing at their own pace and not have to rely on a 3rd person whenever they need to update their website.
